Anatoliy K. KINAKH
President of the Ukrainian Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen The interest to co-operation with Ukrainian manufacturers has increased significantly due to personal business energy of such people as Anatoliy Kinakh. Thus, the foreign investment flow to our country will certainly grow. Anatoliy Kinakh started his career as a public and political figure in March 1990 in Mykolaiv, when elected People's Deputy to Supreme Council of Ukraine. He was a member of Committee for Economic Reform and National Economy Management, later he worked as President's representative in Mykolaiv region, Head of Mykolaiv Regional Executive Council. There he knew all ins and outs. Though he started his work as an engineer-shipbuilder at the docks of Tallinn, the real stages of his personal becoming were at the production sites of Mykolaiv shipbuilding companies.Anatoliy Kinakh's appointment as a high official within the system of executive authority derives naturally from his professionalism. In 1995 - 1996 Anatoliy Kinakh was the Vice-Premier Minister of Ukraine on industrial policy issues. Since the end of 1996 he has been the President of the Ukrainian Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen, one of the largest non-governmental organizations in Ukraine. From June 1997 he was the First Deputy Head of International Congress of
Industrialists and Businessmen, the same year was appointed the member of Higher Economic Board of the President of Ukraine. In 1998 the National Committee of International Chamber of Trade was established on the basis of the Ukrainian Union of Manufacturers and Businessmen and was headed by A. Kinakh till 2000. From November 1998 he was the Head of Co-ordinating Board of Ukrainian Employers' Confederation. And in 1999 A
natoliy Kinakh again entered the executive power structures as the First Vice-Premier Minister of Ukraine. The Supreme Council of Ukraine of the latest calling has discussed a lot of draft laws and proposals at A. Kinakh's participation and initiative. Thus, the Law "On Realising of Economic Experiment for Mining and Metallurgy Sector of Ukraine" has been put into practice. The experiment aims to create necessary conditions for increase of production output and renewal of current assets as well as production facilities reconstruction and upgrade of Ukrainian mining and metallurgical companies. All the companies participating in this pilot program has increased their output, including the exportable product output, and also the amount of payments to state budget. By A. Kinakh's initiative the Supreme Council of Ukraine has adopted the Law "On Special Economic Zone "Mykolaiv" aiming to improve the efficiency of shipbuilding companies' production capacities, to increase their export potential, to attract the investments to the priority sectors industry, to preserve and create new jobs. The shipbuilding industry, so familiar to Anatoliy Kinakh, has become his particular concern. He is sure that the creation of special economic zone will lead this once powerful sector through the labyrinths of marketing pursuits to the progress. The new politicalforce - Industrialists' and Businessmen's Party, since the beginning of the year 2000 headed by Anatoliy Kinakh, will promote this process.
