Cell Phones Will Become Cheaper
The
State Committee on Communication and Information drafted a recommendation
on reducing the price of radio frequency employed by cellular operators
in Ukraine.Next year your cell phone bill is likely to shrink by almost 50%. News agency "Interfax-Ukraine" reported that the recommendation has been submitted to government for further revision. The committee officials remain positive that new radio frequency rates will be enacted early next year. It will enable cellular communication operators to decrease its costs. As a result, the cellular service rates for customers will go down as well.
Experts believe that new rates will allow cellular operators to expand the number of its clients. Moreover, it will also allow them to purchase additional frequency resources.
According to official data, the number of people who own a cell phone has doubled during this year. There are currently about 600, 000 of cell phone-owners in Ukraine. Many experts consider that if the recommendation is approved, this number will go up to 2 million by the end of 2001.
